Description

Vintage 1940's Eisenberg ruby red & clear crystal Swarkiski rhinestone baguettes & chatons. Screw back earrings in near mint condition. Are signed with the cursive E which was used from 1943 though 1948. The signature is a bit faint due to cleaning, but one can see that both earrings are signed at the same location on the back. Rare. Really gorgeous & very vibrant stones. An Art Deco look - so I suspect the earlier 1940's instead of the latter. Set in rhodium. Measures .50 inches long by .50 in width at the widest point. Tight backs & very wearable size. Eisenberg is one of the most sought after costume jewelry designers for collectors. Many larger pieces cost hundreds of dollars due to the impeccable design & enduring quality. The company started as dress manufacturers & also made accent jewelry to highlight & accessorize the clothing. Soon women were asking if they could purchase just the brooch or dress clips without the outfit. At a time when average salaries were less than $100 per week, Eisenberg pieces sold in the $50-$100 range. .
