Description

The Rochester Folk Art Guild occupies an interesting place in American cultural history, having been founded in the 1950s in upstate New York by Louise March, a follower of the mystic George Ivanovitch Gurdjieff. The Guild continues as not only a craft & agricultural center, but also as a community dedicated to Gurdjieff's teachings. This handsome "feather" vase (the opening is so small that only a quill or baby's breath could fit into it), signed & dated 1976, stands little over five inches tall with a 3.5" diameter at its center. A continues band moves symmetrically from its base to the neck where it gives way to a series of ripples before climbing to the top. It is in flawless condition.
