Description

A most unusual & interesting Imperial Russian elegantly patinated brass & copper Batashev samovar from the turn of the late 19th century / early 20th century; repurposed, fashioned as a functional table lamp. Made in Tula during the time of tsarist Russia, circa 1900, having an urn form raised panel decorated body with decorative accents, ornate openwork handled long copper spigot, a pair of brass & wood handles adorned with bronze mount, tapered turned pedestal rising on square cast iron base with four splayed feet. Mounted with a later single socket light, converted - electrified, finished with a white ribbed bell shaped shade topped with a carved fleur-de-lis finial. Dimensions: (approx) 27" High, 17" Diameter in old times, a strong brew of tea contained in a teapot & warmed on the top of the samovar can be mixed with the desired amount of water supplied from the spigot below.
