All Don Baker wants is a place of his own away from his domineering mom. Don's been blind since birth, but that doesn't stop him from setting up in a San Francisco apartment & making the acquaintance of his quirky, liberated, actress neighbor Jill. Don learns the kind of things from Jill that his mother would never have taught him!...and Jill learns from Don what growing up & being free is really all about. Butterflies are Free is proof positive that Goldie Hawn is one of the finest actresses of her generation. She's funny, tragic, serious, & endearing as Jill, the spontaneous new girl in town who finds herself surprised when her neighbor Don reveals that he's completely blind. They have lunch, go shopping, get to know each other, & worst of all meet Don's mother played by the great Eileen Heckart. Her domineering character is annoying, callous, loving, & wise yet the relationship that develops between the three characters is very moving. All of this is presented with great dialogue by playwright & screenwriter, Leonard Gershe. This is truly a unique find as the poster is almost 50 years old & the color is clear & not faded. The single horizontal fold has little wear & the beautiful image is a vibrant lithograph of the two lead actors in an embrace. This iconic piece will frame beautifully & brighten any home. Lithographs with light creasing at folds are common for posters of this age as they were mailed to theaters folded (See Photo detail). Magnets were used in the photography of these posters so as to limit handling & wear. These magnets are silver & visible in photographs in each of the poster's (4) corners.
