These one-of-a-kind earrings are made of sticks I collected from a cottonwood tree that was struck by lightning over ten years ago. The earring hooks are sterling silver & have a 925 stamp. The wire wrap around the wood is silver plated. Wood from a lightning-struck tree is valued by many cultures & magickal practitioners all across the world. It enhances all spells & divination. I have other lightning-struck wood listings from the same tree, & I often suggest keeping a piece on your altar. Well, now you can bring that power & energy with you wherever you go. The lightning-struck cottonwood tree stands in a wetland area, & the surviving branches are often occupied by red-winged blackbirds. Foxes & coyotes commonly prowl the area at night, & humans like to visit with their pets during the day. I made sure to contact the town forester & secure his permission before collecting tree parts, & I never remove anything that hasn't already fallen to the ground. As you can see from the photos, half of the tree burned from the inside out & is now completely hollow, while the other half of the tree has continued to grow. It's a very resilient being. in order to be environmentally responsible, I have sterilized the collected wood & charcoal by heating it in an oven at 250 degrees for several hours. This is hot enough to ensure that no invasive organisms or microbes are introduced to foreign environments, but not hot enough to affect the charring or blistering in any way.
