This antique portrait miniature with Jesus on one side & Mary on the other is really beautiful. A devotional jewel that has survived nearly 370+ years in wonderful condition; this piece dates to around 1650. Yes, 1650!! I had originally dated the piece to the late Georgian era but another very knowledgeable antique dealer reached out to confirm that this piece is from the 17th century. An incredible piece of history. The frame is in 18k gold. There is no glass on either side so this piece should be worn with care. Whether you're religious or not, it's a really beautiful piece for a collector. Very good antique condition. Some small knicks to the enamel at the edges seen mainly with a loupe. Mary has a few small scratches in her forehead (see pics) but otherwise is very good condition for its age. NOTE: I do not recommend wearing this piece next to anything that may knock into it or if you've put lotion/oil/perfume on your neck/chest. It could damage the enamel. 1 1/8" in length by 7/8" wide No visible stamps which is typical of jewelry from this period.
