Vintage large 1940's Mcm authentic hand painted water color on 4 framed silk panels. Byōbu screens are exquisitely beautiful emblems of wealth & power dating all the way back to Six Dynasties China (220-589 AD). Motifs changed over time but these intricate pieces were often given as gifts. in the 16th century there was a growth in the application of metal foils, particularly gold. The sticker on this piece dates it to 1945-1949. The scene depicted on this particular piece is a whimsical landscape with a traditional bridge & lily pond at the center, surrounded by butterflies, trees, & a mountainous background. It is signed by the artist in the upper right hand corner. The artwork is set in a heavy solid wooden frame with a creamy beige fabric border that has a repeating bird motif in white. The corners & sides of the wooden frame have lovely hand hammered & carved brass detailing. The back is covered in dark brown canvas fabrication. It can be displayed standing or hung on a wall with it's universal brackets on the backside! & it's panels fold up nicely for easy storage & moving. Condition: Great vintage condition with some minor scuffing & paint to the wood frame. The artwork on the panels is in great condition & the fabric on the backside is as well.
