#30740 "Late 20th century Roche Babois dining table. An engineering feet. Features an offset weighted steel base with oval glass top & extendable leaf that swings around & locks into place. The boomerang leaf shows an artisinal design of wood inlays with a smooth lacquered finish. Stores safely beneath the glass top when not in use. Roche bobois is the story of two families, the Roches & the Chouchans, not predestined to meet. in 1950, Jacques Roche purchased the old Alexandre Dumas theater on rue de Lyon & built two stores. His sons, Philippe & François, joined the company & together established the company's development strategy. They began to distribute the very best contemporary furniture, which was heavily inspired by Bauhaus designers, such as Minvielle, Steiner & Airbourne, & equally inspired by renowned designers such as Pierre Paulin & Marc Berthier. At this time, the Chouchans were selling furniture in Paris on Boulevard Sébastopol at ""Au Beau Bois"" (which later became Bobois)."
