It is slightly oval & just a little wider than deep (across). It would be good for umbrellas, canes, tall dried grasses, dried or silk flowers or a tree. The base may need to be weighted depending on what you put in it. The type of wicker is soft & smoother, not as snagging as most wicker. Nice , natural, light color. It measures approx. 24" tall x 12" wide x 10 1/2" across & the narrowest part of the opening is approx. 3 1/4" - 3 1/2" x 3". It weighs 2 pounds 10 ounces.
