Description
Presented is a fabulous 14 karat gold American Victorian bar pin or brooch. This piece dates to around the 1860s-1870s. The pin is done very much in the Etruscan Revival style of the time to which it dates, beautifully decorated with granulated gold beading & wirework, with a fancy matte finish for contrast. The pin has an intricate design of two interlocked dangles, one with a smooth bright gold finish & the other matte with decoration, hanging in the center. On either side is a shiny gold bead dangle. The brooch has an old style clasp, with a capped safety end. This is a lovely piece, with a nice sense of movement when worn due to all the hanging decoration. The pin is in great condition. The beadwork & wirework are all intact. There are no breaks & no repairs. The fob is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid & guarantee it to be 14 karat gold.
