This piece was clearly used as a lamp for many years. The gold leaf is rubbed off at the top, where clearly the lamp was turned off & on many times. At some point in this piece's life, someone decided to rewire the lam & never did. With a lamp kit found at your local home store, you can easily turn the is back into a pretty lamp.
