Item Details: -Light weight but sturdy children's sized Viking or round shield with Norse embossed design in various stains. -Features a custom made steel shield boss (or umbo) that covers the user's hand as well as a shaped wooden handle. -Shield edge is wrapped in black fabric. -Shield board is pine 3 ply & quite strong for the thickness & weight. -Constructed with copper rivets. Constructed in very similar manner as genuine archeological finds. -Perfect for Halloween, Ren Faire, cosplay, & SCA events. -Works well as a Buckler or Targe for light sparring contact. Dimensions: 19" diameter, 2" boss depth, 3/16 in board thickness. DISCLAIMER: Umbos are steel & may rust over time if left un-oiled or exposed to elements. Shields are shipped with a thin layer of mineral oil to prevent this. If the umbo begins to rust, it can be removed with steel wool. We recommend oiling the umbo or rubbing it with furniture wax to slow rust from forming. PLEASE NOTE: We cannot custom engrave the black shields at this time.
