The Kiss is an Italian jacquard wall tapestry portraying the painting completed in 1859 by Italin painter Francesco Hayez. He was the leading artist of Romanticism in mid-19th-century Milan, renowned for his grand historical paintings, political allegories & exceptionally fine portraits. Among his works, his painting The Kiss was considered among his best work by contemporaries, & has only gained in esteem since then.
