Description
Unique antique cabinet card portrait of Elizabeth Egorovna Obolensky, a member of the Rurik Dynasty, a family of aristocrats that fled Russia in 1917 during the Russian Revolution. This portrait was taken in Poland well before that time, by Walerian Twardzicki who died in 1902. I think this was probably taken in the late 1800s, possibly before she was married. She was the grandmother of George "Yuri" Obolensky who's father, her son was Prince Paul Ivanovich Obolensky. This photo was used in a the autobiography of her grandson (see last photo) & I obtained it from a recent estate sale held by his family.
