Spode's Early Patterns: the demand for replacement pieces and, subsequently, for original designs, was admirably met by English manufacturers. Spode was amongst the first to produce them; the first recorded pattern dates to c1805. Imari patterns dominated the Spode pattern range from this date until around 1815. Interest only faded after the Derby factory flooded the market with a lower standard of ware around 1818...Spode's Later Patterns: the Imari designs enjoyed a revival at the end of the 1880s & into the early 1900s with many variations produced on teawares, dessert wares & tablewares as well as ornamental pieces... For your consideration, I am offering the exquisite, square Victorian Copeland Imari Display Plate manufactured by the Spode Factory during the Regency period...Made in England in the "Pattern No. I 2234... & was produced by the Spode Factory between 1851 through 1895.. This hand-painted English center oriental-style porcelain Imari Porcelain design with a bold motif - contrasts orange (iron red) decoration on a white ground, gold painted on a cobalt ground...Trimmed with lavish gilding...The ribbed band has the painted Victorian Spode flowers in colors of Yellow, Pink, Purple outlined in gold with the cobalt blue backgroun... Scalloped edging trimmed with gold... Size to the exquisite piece is 9.25 inches square - 10.25 inches from two opposite corner areas - 1.25 inches height.. CONDITION REPORT: Light signs of previous use should be expected consistent with age - will find slight wear to the gilding & slight rubbing wear on some of the ribbing... view the pictures please..
