Mid-century ceramic vase designed by Marianne Starck for Michael Andersen & Sons Pottery (MA&S), features a semi-glossy glaze in gray with pale cobalt blue hand-painted pattern, original label attached on the bottom, made in Denmark. MA&S was founded in the 1880s (from an earlier 18th Century Pottery) on the island of Bornholm, Denmark - one of the major centers of Danish pottery production during the 19th & 20th Centuries. Marked with the 3 herrings mark, which was used from 1930 on. The pottery is best known for its modern design pieces produced from the 1950s through the 1970s. German-born Marianne Starck (1938-2007) was one of Denmark's leading ceramic designers in the 20th century. She is most known for her time with the "Michael Andersen & Son" factory. Marianne's artistry is represented at numerous museums in the Nordic countries. in very good vintage condition, small chip on the rim. Please view all photos & message me with any questions.
