In ancient times, Vulcan, the god of Fire would summons sacrificial beings. Some cultures sacrificed small animals, like chickens & turkey, other cultures sacrificed larger animals likes lamb, & dogs, even pigs, & then there were some cultures - believed to still exist today that would give human sacrifices to tame the growling volcanoes. On a bed of straw & thistle, human sacrifices would be brought to the ceremonial plateau of the volcano & then they would walk the rest of the way up & over the edge, believing themselves that not only are they protecting their village from the belly of the beast, but also believing they would become deities from their unselfishness. Darker cultures would sacrifice their own children, fattening them up first to appease the fire Gods. A gorgeously detailed fools gold Pyrite fan also called a Miner's Dollar is suspended beneath a single rough red coral chunk - creating the pendant assemblage. The necklace is comprised of dark red sangria fossil spheres, black lava beads, rough raw Tibetan black quartz & hammered copper links.
