After many hours of research, I believe they are hand carved from vintage angel skin coral. The carving is a masterpiece! Based on the estate sale where I purchased these, I believe these are from the 1950's. The cuff links appear to depict Fukurokuju, one of the Seven Lucky Gods in Japanese mythology. He has a smooth head & a long beard. He is the personification of the southern polar star & is considered the god of happiness (fuku), wealth (roku), & longevity (ju). These cuff links come in their original box, with a Japanese tag that translates to "book coral". They are in stunning vintage condition! Each cufflink measures about 1-1/4" tall x 1/2" wide. Please Note: All of the items that I sell in my shop are vintage items. By Etsy's standards, items that are at least 20 years old are considered vintage. I source items from local estate sales, thrift shops & garage sales. I am not an expert on the history of any items I source, so I do online research to try to learn more about their history. The description in my listings represents what I have learned about the items through online research. Some items are hard to date to a specific year. If my research leads me to believe that the item is from the early 2000's or earlier, I list it & classify it as vintage. Vintage items are all pre-owned. As such, they have varying signs of use. I strive to honestly represent my items, so will do my best to detail major condition issues & try to show them in the photos. However, buyers should anticipate all items showing signs of former use, which may include but is not limited to stains, tears, scuffs, chips, missing embellishments, prior repairs & general wear & tear.
