This is a truly remarkable antique Victorian brooch. The brooch was made sometime between 1890-1910. It is an exquisite design incorporating lacy dimensional filigree. This lacy design has been complimented by gorgeous, prong set, faceted, raspberry colored glass stones. The color is a perfect match to the crimson-plum of a rhodolite garnet. The look is delicate, feminine & completely antique Czech. These remarkable stones are also quite special. They were crafted in Gablonz during a period when the bohemian region of Czechoslovakia was the leader in glass gemstone production. The glass stones (and beads) crafted from 1890-1935 are considered masterpieces & are highly collected & coveted. Czechoslovakian glass artisans literally invented the rhinestone. They were able to replicate precious & semi-precious stones with an artistry & precision remarkable by today's standards. The stones found in this brooch are examples of this artistry. They are absolutely eye catching. This pin is in outstanding vintage condition, amazingly it has retained it's gilt finish, measures 2.25" & has a working c-clasp.
