25 Dwarf Teddy Bear Sunflower seeds If you love sunflowers but you lack the space for gigantic plants with plate-size blooms, teddy bear sunflower may be the perfect answer. Sunflower 'Teddy Bear' is a short, bushy plant with fluffy, golden-yellow blooms that appear from mid-summer to the first frost in autumn. Like other dwarfs, the final height depends on the size of the container. Expect 8-12" plants from seeds directly sown in a 4" pot & a 35-42" final size in the garden. GROWING INSTRUCTIONS This seed should be sown directly outdoors since the long roots of this plant need space to develop & dislike being disturbed. After the last spring frost when the soil has warmed to 70-75o, plant several seeds together 1" deep & 6" apart in rich, well drained soil. The seeds will begin to germinate in 1-2 weeks. Thin to the strongest seedling per grouping. The use of a netting or screen can be useful to prevent birds or animals from eating the seeds as they develop. Keep soil moist.
