Description

This listing is for one of the above photographed Philippinite Tektites. You can select the variation based on the item number indicated in the above photographs. Feel free to choose one or all that speak to you. These amazing tektites from the Philippines are uniquely textured, opaque glasses were formed by the processes of a meteorite impacting with the ground, fusing particles of sand & trace metals. The force of these objects throw droplets of this molten material high into the outer atmosphere. These droplets then rain back down to earth. The event which formed the tektite detailed here was known as the Australasian Impact. It occurred approximately 780,000 years ago in the Bay of Tonkin, right around the last magnetic pole reversal. Tektites from the Australasian impact are scattered throughout Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, & as far as Australia. Tektites collected in each of these areas boast their own unique attributes. This beautiful series of Tektites exhibit beautiful pitted grooves, excellent textures & patterns, as well as lovely matte black surface luster. Many of these stones are round, & show what is known as bread crust texture. These amazing tektites are perfect collectors size. They fit nicely in the palm, & would display well in a grid, altar, or display box. Tektites are a truly amazing example of the marriage of earth & space. There is a 1cm cube in the main photograph for size reference. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for looking.
