We made this necklace & earring set from old-stock American turquoise from Kingman, Arizona. The turquoise is a gentle & earthy blue with a green touch to it in some stones. The matrix/veining is predominantly white. The beads are strung on a coated steel cable, & the clasp hook & other findings are sterling silver. The nugget beads are graduated from about 8 to 15mm (measured at their larger dimension) with the largest beads at the center of the necklace & the smaller at the ends. The earrings measure about 30 mm overall, with the drop portion measuring about 17 mm. Thanks, & I hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed making them! - About the Artist: I have been designing & hand crafting silver & gold jewelry for over 25 years, & generally work from my small studio in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. I've made thousands of pieces of jewelry in my lifetime, continuing an artisan tradition in wood, fabric, & metal that goes back many generations in my family, to my Irish & Scottish ancestors. My work has appeared in many galleries & several publications over the years. Gems, metalwork, & artistry are passions for me. When not making jewelry, I create two dimensional artwork (drawings & paintings), & write educationally about rocks & history, drawing upon a background in the sciences, a degree in archeology from SMU in Texas & a PhD in geoscience (Space & Planetary Science) from the U. of Arkansas. I also still do occasional scientific work in earth science fields. I've returned to the internet after over 15 years away from doing any significant online sales, & a LOT has changed.
