Description

This is a reproduction of an astronomical instrument the collection of Merton College in Oxford. Originally created around XIV century the instrument was "upgraded" with the flow of time at least twice. Our reproduction displays its most original look, but is adapted to Gregorian calendar used in XXIc. The lunar volvelle & the diagram of Zodiac man could be used in "diagnostics" of diseases & prescription of treatments. Presence of Sun, Moon & other celestial bodies in certain signs could indicate favourable or unfavourable conditions for treatment or respective body organs. The side with the human figure contains also a horary quadrant with a plumb-bob hanging on a natural silk string - a type of sundial which does not require compass & with certain volume of calculation can be used in broad range of latitudes. Do not forget to state the colur of the silk string you prefer: blue, green, purple or red.
