Here we have a traditional hand coiled piece of Jemez pottery made by Loren Wallowing Bull. We have had this piece in our trading post for almost two decades, we want to say we got this piece in 2004 or 2005. A friend brought it into us one day looking to get rid of it. We have gladly given it a home all these years. This piece is signed by Loren with his signature on the bottom of this piece. From our understanding, Loren mainly did storytellers & nativity sets. We feel honored to have this olla or bear pot in our trading post as it truly is unique & one of a kind. It measures approximately 7 inches tall & 5 1/2 inches wide. This piece has a cap with a handmade bear on it, the measurement is with the cap included. The cap itself measures about 3 1/2 inches tall. It is hand etched with various natural designs like a bear claw, maize, & rain clouds. in element & in practice. The cap is also painted with a couple designs including a Sunface.
