This is an antique color cover print (chromolithograph) from PUCK, a weekly magazine published in 1886. Puck was the first successful humor magazine in the United States consisting of political satire expressed in colorful cartoons & caricatures which focused on the the major, mostly political, issues of the day. It was published from 1871 until 1918. Puck was quite popular in its day, & very popular among political cartoon collectors today. This series of PUCK cartoons are clever, beautifully illustrated & provide an historical picture of the state of politics in 1886. Excellent definition. Nice clean, sharp lines. The area inside the matte is 9 1/4" x 12 3/4" (including white space surrounding the image). Matted the print measures 12" x 16".
