The most renowned & most-copied examples are those of the six figures of the Caryatid porch of the Erechtheion, the ancient Greek temple on the north side of the Acropolis of Athens in Greece, which was built between 421 & 406 BC & designed by the Greek architect Mnesicles. The temple was dedicated to both Athena & Poseidon. The original five of those six figures, which are replaced onsite by replicas, are now on permanent display at the Acropolis Museum on a special balcony that allows visitors to view them from all sides. The sixth figure was removed by Lord Elgin in the early 19th century & is now in the British Museum in London. The clock is powered by one AA battery. Excellent greek gifts. Battery is not included. Please notice that any differences of colour, form & painting between the images & the products received are due to the fact that the items are 100% handmade.
