This listing is for 15 stunning purple colored clam shells called Purple Varnish Clams in an assortment of sizes. The Varnish in their name comes from a thin paper like brown shiny varnish like film on the outer shell. It peels off easily to reveal a pretty outer shell as well. They are a very shallow cupped shell ranging from 1.5 - 2.5 inches. They are some of the prettiest colored clam shells I have seen. They come from the Pacific coast, & the shells are delicate looking with layers of different colored pigments inside the shallow cup. Colors range in light to dark hues of blues, purple, & pinks. They tend to have thin edges & some may require some easy sanding to even out the edges for decoupage. They look amazing when then are wet & would look great in aquariums, polished or clear coated, Since they are a fairly flat, they could be smashed & the pieces used in craft projects. These shells have been only rinsed thoroughly by clean water, no detergents. The first picture is a clear coated shells. The last picture is of the shells when dry so they become quite oxidized looking when not wet or clear coated. Please note: These shells will arrive oxidized & looking like the last picture.
