Louis-Hector Berlioz bust. Berlioz is a French composer, conductor, music critic & theorist, one of the important representatives of Romanticism. Best known for his compositions Symphonie fantastique (1830) & Requiem (1837), he also had a significant influence on later orchestral music with his theoretical work A Great Treatise on Contemporary Instrumentation & orchestration "(Grand Traité d'instrumentation et d'orchestration modernes, 1844). He is also the author of about 50 songs.
