Excellent black texted Iittala sticker. Alvar Aalto designed first clear glass Savoy vases for a competition that was arranged by Karhula-Iittala glass works in 1936. For the competition, the vase was named Eskimonaisen nahkahousut meaning Eskimo Woman's Leather Pants in English. One year later the vases were introduced in Paris World Exposition in many colors. After that success luxury Savoy Hotel in Helsinki was decorated with a lot of vases, & that is how the vase got the name Savoy. Nowadays the vases are made in many sizes, forms, purposes, & colors, & they are commonly & simply called Alvar Aalto vases. This item is not a vase, & these little items were not produced in Aalto living time. This is a "normal size" candle holder bowl for tea light. It is called also simply Aalto Bowl 55 mm according to the height.
