Other Names: Hydrangea anomala petiolaris, Tibetian Hydrangea Grow Zones: 4,5,6,7,8,9 (Zone 10, grow in full shade) Seed Size: Very tiny The Climbing Hydrangea is a woody perennial that blooms big fluffy hydrangeas in June. Once established, it is a vigorous grower. Hydrangea anomala petiolaris can grow beautiful, dazzling flower vines that stretch to be up to 70 ft in length. To maximize it's growth, craft a sturdy support system for the vines. About & How to Care for Climbing Hydrangea The shrub grows in many soil types (clay, loam, sand etc.) & is cold-hardy. Just the same you'll want to ensure proper soil drainage. You can pot climbing hydrangea. Half a whiskey barrel is the size of pot required. Trellis the vines if there is no fence for it to grow on for maximum effect. Planting in full sun is acceptable & somewhat shaded areas are as well depending on your growing zone. For example, in a hot/wet climate, you will want to have it in partial shade. This may mean under the shade of another tree or choosing an area that gets partial sun throughout the day (facing North). Mulching the area is recommended to retain moisture. Water regularly, once a day during evening or morning hours. Fertilize in spring. Germination procedure: Sprinkle seeds on the surface of the soil in 65-70 degree temperatures. Gently press the seeds but do not cover them as the seeds need both sunlight & moisture to sprout. Germination time: 14-21 days. 50 Climbing Hydrangea Seeds, Vining Flower Bush, Creeping Hedge Shrub
