Antique "Sunset - Sussex" by George Cole (1833- 1893) engraving Medium: Antique Steel Engraving on wove paper after the original sketch by Master Engraver John Saddler This beauty is not a modern print. This impression is over than 135 years old with sharp lines & crisp strike. Perfect addition to your walls! Good condition- small tear on upper left corner. Some signs of age & discoloration (please refer to pictures). Artist Biography: Cole was born at Portsmouth, the son of a landscape painter & in his practice followed his father's lead with marked success. He exhibited at the British Institution at the age of nineteen, & was first represented at the Royal Academy in 1853. His election as an associate of this institution took place in 1870, & he became an Academician ten years later. He died in London on 6 April 1893. The wide popularity of his work was due partly to the simple directness of his technical method, & partly to his habitual choice of attractive material.
