Description
Carly Weaver started her career as a painter after she received a BFA from James Madison University in Virginia and moved to Boston. She painted in various places including her bedroom, a basement studio with a floor trap door, and a studio in a foam factory. Once she relocated to Austin, she was able to build a studio in her backyard. Carly’s current work is based on realism with a grounding in things that represent where she lives. She likes working in a series and on wood. She does not paint or draw on canvas ever and only paints in oils. Carly likes materials and the building process of the panel and the additional character the wood brings to fill the negative space.
