Snow-Balls. Art Nouveau style pochoir illustrated by Augusto Giacometti from the 1896 publication, La Plante et Ses Applications Ornementales, (Plants and Their Ornamental Applications). This collection was produced and edited by Franco-Swiss decorative artist Eugene Grasset. The book is a beautiful pictorial summation of Grasset's key idea concerning the use of natural forms as the basis for developing decorative motifs. Each piece was executed in stunning color, requiring several runs through the printing press (one for each color) to acquire such vibrancy. The piece is in very good condition with some toning and light foxed (dark speckled) areas around the edges. Corners and edges show some handling wear.
