Nature at its best, Mermaid Pool is a nature lover's dream. The hike starts at Matura River, which is located in the north eastern part of Trinidad. Along the way, many fascinating pools and gorges can be seen as well as products of the limestone formations that exist along the path. After a 35 minute hike, take some time to enjoy the serene surroundings . The second part of the tour will take you to the Caroni Bird Sanctuary, home to numerous species such as birds, mammals, reptiles, and other wildlife. As evening approaches, look out for the swamp's main attraction, the Scarlet Ibis. Evening is when the birds return to the swamp to roost, after feeding during the day, creating a spectacle of colour. A minimum of two persons per booking is required we do accommodate one person at an extra cost of 50 percent of the total cost.
