The main goal on this hike is to stay away from the beaten tourist path.We want to provide you with a true and quiet nature and forest experience.We start early and our groups are of maximum 6 people.This hike takes place in the lush Laurel Forest in Ribeiro Frio and we do a combination of trails. We start with an easy and flat walk, along a Levada (the irrigation system used in Madeira). Then, we will find an old, rugged levada that will take us up to Chão das Feiteiras, where (depending on the weather) we might see the highest peaks of Madeira.From here, we will go back to the starting point by walking an Old Caminho Real, the Royal Trails that locals used to walk from one village to another.For this hike, we recommend rain jacket, mountain boots, comfortable clothes, rucksack, water and snacks and walking sticks.
