Description

Sourcing is the aspect of the Procurement cycle that's concerned with discovering what needs to be purchased and identifying the suppliers you can purchase those goods and services from. Speaking as a guy with over 30 years of experience in the field, you would be shocked how many sophisticated companies get this stuff wrong. I co-teach this course with my friend and fellow Procurement professional, Sean-Michael Callahan. We've broken this course down into two distinct parts (PART 1 and PART 2). The first part contains a brief introduction where we share our backgrounds so that you can better understand where our experience comes from. We don't spend too long on this, however, because you know how to work LinkedIn and you can simply look us up there. This course really begins with PART 1: What Is Sourcing, which is a deep dive into the Sourcing process from top to bottom. We cover a lot of material here in one long section. PART 1 really sets the stage for PART 2: Some Sourcing Strategies where we tackle some of the strategic elements of Sourcing that you can incorporate into your Procurement organization. Sean-Michael and I incorporate some examples from our past experience at Hewlett Packard and Hewlett Packard Enterprise that are definitely worth hearing. Within PART 2, we also discuss ways you can Control Your Supply, Don't Let It Control You. In this section, we discuss the Consequences Of A Poor Sourcing Strategy, the value of having Visibility Into Your Supply Base and your Customer Base, and we wrap up with a brief section of what you can do If You've Identified A Risk Within Your Supply Base. Finally, we'll walk you through the aspects of The Ideal Sourcing Professional before ending things with a brief recap. Unlike other courses out there, our courses are not theoretical, they contain tons of real-life examples of Procurement in action. I hope you enjoy the course. Feel free to reach out and connect on LinkedIn once you're enrolled. I'd love to connect! Cheers, Nick
