Description
"Harlequin with Violin features an imposing figure holding a violin and sheet music, titled ""Si tu veuz"", (If You Wish). The painting is often interpreted as a marriage proposal to Picasso's first wife, Olga Koklova. Painted in 1918, in Montrouge, Paris. Picasso personally identified with the Harlequin, which is a stock figure from the popular Commedia dell'arte, and regularly depicted himself dressed as Harlequin. It was considered, at that time, the ubiquitous personification of bohemian culture. Frame. Description: Open Grain Mahogany. Color: Brown."
