Landscape Boulders are 1 of the cornerstones of landscape design. These large rocks can serve as a natural focal point to anchor a landscape and provide depth and texture to an otherwise flat landscape. There are 2 basic types of these large landscape rocks. The first is round surface stones with smooth textures. These are found stones and are round because of natural erosion and weathering over thousands of-years. The-second type is known as angular (quarried) stones with strong lines and edges that make a statement. They are usually created and are struck, chiseled or cut out of the ground. Some quick tips from our boulder specialist. Natural boulders don't sit on top of the landscape, they are always buried a few inches to a few feet. Therefore we recommend digging low enough to bury a third of the boulder to ensure a natural look. Also, try to randomize the setting of boulders so that the tops are asymmetrical in height from each other. Different heights will look great, but keep in mind that different angles can look unnatural. After all, if the large rocks are jutting out in completely different directions, it will be obvious that someone placed them there. Please be aware that stone is a natural product and color, texture, size and weight will vary between boulders.
