Description
Dutch iris hybrids grow from bulbs that can be planted in fall or spring and are often grown as annuals. These graceful and elegant flowers bloom atop grass-like foliage. They are easy to grow, and if zone appropriate, are great for naturalizing. They are often used as cut flowers. Mixture consists of a wide range of varieties, colors and patterns, producing a natural look. Buy several packs to increase your color range and to create an optimum curb appeal effect. Choose a site that has reasonably fertile soil and plenty of moisture that won't dry out in summer. Good drainage and a sheltered location will help them survive the winter. Plant about 15 bulbs per square foot. Zone 5 gardeners should add a 2 in. layer of mulch in fall. Best planted in large numbers.
