Description
Spectacularly embroidered badges were worn by government officials of China’s Ming (1368–1644) and Qing dynasties (1644–1911). The Qing government generally adopted the earlier Ming system, with the exception of some minor changes in the choice of animals. The mandarin duck represented the seventh civil rank.
