Description

Femina was a French fashion magazine, first publish by Pierre Lafitte in February of 1901. Geared towards the female readership of the bourgeoisie, its contents explored female celebrities of the era, high fashion, and leisure activities (with and emphasis on sports). Lafitte envisioned a magazine representing luxury, trends, everyday life, and family. It was the forerunner of "people" magazines, lifestyle and fashion guides for the affluent woman. It was published irregularly until it was discontinued in 1954. This particular cover was illustrated by French fashion artist Pierre Mourgue. Artist signature is in the print in the lower right-hand corner of the cover. These original magazine covers are becoming increasingly hard to find, especially these Christmas editions. Don't miss out on the opportunity to purchase this beautiful piece!
