Description
Tess Adler grew up in Charleston, SC. Largely self-taught, she moved to New York City to pursue an art degree and quickly realized that city living was not for her. She now travels to beaches around the world in search of the "endless summer" and paints what she finds in each new place. Her images are atmospheric and interlaced with imagery of the natural world up close. All the excitement of travel comes together in her work; the textures and colors of new and ever-changing vistas are expressed in each painting through multiple layers of mark-making and color. "Nature is chaotic, continually transforming, and yet it is able to maintain balance and stasis. There is beauty in the chaos. My work is about finding a calm space where you can reflect in that beauty amidst the noise of the world." -Tess Adler
