Separate dark and light colors. Machine wash, gentle cycle, with cold or warm water. Use a gentle detergent without any bleach or bleaching agents. Never pour any detergent directly onto the linens as this may discolor them. It is better to add it to the water as it fills the tub. Avoid overloading the washing machine. Pre-treat any stains prior to washing. If necessary you can use Clorox 2 - color-safe bleach. Some hair and skin products such as acne lotions or kinds of toothpaste that contain oxidizing agents may cause discoloration of colored sheets and towels. When using such products, it’s safest to sleep on white linens. Linens can be machine dried on low/medium heat. Remove the linens slightly damp as this will assist in ironing and minimizing wrinkles. Do not over-dry the sheets as this pulls out the natural moisture, breaking the cotton fiber and creating pilling. Do not use a hot setting as this will likely cause excess shrinkage. Except for terry towels, linens can also be line dried. Fabric softeners should not be used as they reduce the absorbency of the towel. Iron linens while still damp to assist in ironing. Iron the reverse side of the fabric on medium/high. Use a press cloth when ironing embroidered sheets. A spray bottle with water works well in removing wrinkles. Linens should be stored in a cool dry place. Avoid storing linens in plastic bags which may yellow the linens and instead use an old pillowcase. These intense colors require some extra care on the first wash as some dye may release. If this does occur, make sure to run an extra wash cycle with cool water and non-chlorine bleach such as Clorox 2 or your regular detergent to remove any excess dye. After the first wash, your articles will no longer release any color. It is important to not leave wet, embroidered articles for long periods of time in the washer. Remove promptly after the first wash.
