Description

In 1922, a bulldog was inducted into the United States Marine Corps by General Smedley Butler. As a result of the Germans of WWI giving the marines the name "teufel-hunden," or devil dogs. The dog was promoted to Sergeant shortly thereafter and was named Sgt. Jiggs. Then, he was promoted to sergeant major. The first of a succession of bulldogs died in 1927 and was buried with full military honors at Quantico, Virginia. Size: 24" H x 16" W
