The auspicious and ancient “Swastika” adorning her palms, a pot facing downward symbolizing flowing riches in the human realm, blooming lotuses in her secondary hands representing the beginning of life and blossoming of inner consciousness, this brass Sri Lakshmi statue is a divine representation of the great mother goddess, as the progenitor and nurturer of Srishti (creation). Devi Lakshmi is wearing a royal crown, magnificent jewelry, and traditional attire- choli (breast cloth) and dhoti (lower body garment), embellished with incised lines to mark the fabric folds. She is enthroned on a fully blossomed lotus whose petals are stunningly delineated in this brass Maa Lakshmi statue, which depicts the goddess sitting in the Lalitasana or posture of royal ease. Devi’s facial features are revealed in the statue by the use of measured incised lines, which combine to give the goddess a solemn and divine expression.
