LIGHT: Grow eastern red columbine in light to moderate shade or in full sun as long as it has adequate moisture..SOIL: Although it does best in rich, moist soils, it tolerates a wide range of soils as long as they are well-drained..TALL: Will typically grow to about 2′ tall, but can reach 3′, and about 1-1.5′ spread..USES: This columbine will naturalize under the right growing conditions and is perfectly suited to woodland or native plant gardens. It can also be a good addition to borders or cottage gardens..TIPS: Columbine need to have cold/moist stratification before germinating. Direct sow the seed in Fall where you want the plant to grow. Or cold Moist Stratify the seeds in the Spring using the fridge.
