Opening on June 25, 1876, after the defeat of Three Stars Crook's army at Rosebud, Lakota traces, through the life of Ta Cante, a Sicangu warrior, the events that led to the eventual clash with General Custer at Little Big Horn, which brought an end to a way of life for the Plains Sioux.
