In this position, the Stainless Steel Detent Ball with 30lbs of spring behind it to mates with a hole in the bottom of the slide this prevents the slide from moving until the handle is pushed in to over-ride the spring. This is similar to the little ball that holds a socket on a ratchet wrench only much stronger. Quick, easy and clean. Pop Up gives meaning to the phrase "User Friendly."
