A cardboard cutout Noah Webster was dubbed the Father of American Scholarship and Education. His name has become associated with the word “dictionary”. He published “An American Dictionary of the English Language” on 1828 April 14. The modern Merriam-Webster dictionary is the oldest dictionary publisher in the United States. The dictionary publisher was founded after Webster died, and the rights to Webster's name and dictionary were bought.
