Description

A cardboard cutout of King James VI(of Scotland), known as King James 1 of England and Ireland. At the time, his reign in Scotland was the longest of any other ruler in Scotland. Although he accomplished most of his goals for Scotland, he had troubles in England from the multiple conflicts with the English Parliament and the Gunpowder Plot in 1605. During James' reign, there was a Golden Age of drama and literature with big names such as John Donne, Ben Jonson, Sir Francis Bacon, and especially, Shakespeare. James too was a prolific writer who authored books such as Tru Law of Free Monarchies, Basilikon Doron, and Daemonologie. Perhaps, the most well-known part of him is sponsoring the translation of the Bible into English, which became known as the King James Version.
